Newton County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm who is in custody, confirm a release, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. For a current answer or a copy, use the government office that created or holds the record.
Where Newton County Records Are Held
For county custody and booking questions, begin with the Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Newton County Detention Center. The sheriff's official inmate-search doorway covers current inmates, a last-24-hour view, and booking-date searches. Its public roster did not display booking photographs in the inspected configuration, so an image should be requested from the open-records custodian rather than assumed to be online.

The sheriff's public-records instructions state that a response is due within three business days. The first 15 minutes of search, retrieval, redaction, or supervised inspection are free. Labor after that is charged at the lowest-paid qualified full-time employee rate; ordinary letter or legal black-and-white copies are $0.10 per page. Certification is $1 for the first record and $0.50 for each additional record. No booking-photo-specific fee is published, so ask for a current estimate. Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. section 50-18-70 et seq., supplies the statewide framework.
Use the following route for the question you need answered:
- For a booking sheet or booking photograph, email the open-records address or use the sheriff's records-request entry point. Give the full name, birth date if known, arrest or booking date, and the precise record requested.
- For someone just booked or presently shown in county custody, search the NCSO inmate portal and then call the jail information line if the result needs confirmation. A current-roster absence is not proof that no earlier record exists.
- For a warrant or BOLO question, use the Newton County wanted and warrant information and the sheriff's monthly warrant doorway. A dated list is not a live clearance, and no one should approach a person named in a notice.
- For a Covington, Oxford, or Porterdale arrest report, contact the arresting city department. Use the Covington Police Department, Oxford Police open-records route, or Porterdale open-records route. Each city can have its own incident record even when the person is booked at the Newton County Detention Center.
- For a charge's later outcome, contact the Alcovy Judicial Circuit Clerk of Courts or the appropriate municipal clerk. The Newton County Judicial Center is at 1132 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014; the Superior Court clerk's main number is 770-784-2035, with public hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Georgia's E-Access court portal may help with participating courts, but confirm coverage and certification with the clerk.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search. A GDC profile is a state-corrections record and is not the same as a Newton County intake photo.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Those systems do not serve as the Newton County jail roster and do not provide a general booking-photo gallery.
